"Bond, James Bond." Those are familiar words to several generations of thrill seeking movie lovers around the globe. It has now been over 55 years since Sir Ian Fleming introduced his master spy to the world. And now, 007 will "Have a Coke and a Smile"...
Today, everyone knows James Bond; Agent 007 is so embedded in our cultural landscape that nearly anyone seems to have a favorite "Bond moment".
For QUANTUM OF SOLACE (THE 22ND 007 FILM), Sony Pictures, MGM/UA, and Coca Cola UK secured Wieden & Kennedy and ATTIK Creative Agency to create a NEW BOND MOMENT with this awesome commercial and ad campaign.
This phenomenal ad was part of an integrated worldwide campaign that included the rebranding of Coke Zero as Zero Zero 7 to reflect Bond's "00" status and code number "7". In the ad Bond battles villains and pursues a woman in an effort to recover a bottle of Coke Zero. Coca-Cola UK's multimillion pound campaign was largest ever to support Coke Zero and included a tie-in with the posh UK department stores, Harrods. [ Ссылка ]
The ad features an instrumental version of "Another Way to Die", the QUANTUM OF SOLACE theme song by White Stripes front-man Jack White and R&B/pop goddess Alicia Keys, and was an homage to the Bond movie franchise's highly stylized pre-credit sequences. It's fantastically produced, done in the style of Danny Kleinman's CASINO ROYALE opening credits, with significant nods to the Vanquish chase in DIE ANOTHER DAY. There is all sorts of fantastic 007 iconography and it was the first chance the public had to hear the Jack White and Alicia Keys QUANTUM OF SOLACE theme, plus White's own arrangement of The James Bond Theme! Coke Zero was launched in 2005, and this was their first global promotional partnership.
The campaign ran in more than 40 different markets and 30 markets worldwide. The ad broke in the UK in mid-September 2008 ahead of the premier of the movie on October 31, 2008.
Bobby Brittain, the brand director for Coca-Cola Great Britain, said that the campaign "combines the drama of James Bond with the essence of Coca-Cola Zero in a stylish and contemporary fashion" and that "the new edgier Bond persona is the ultimate embodiment of the Coke Zero brand personality and expected to make the brand more popular with its target audience of 20-something men." Coca-Cola hopes the marketing strategy will make Coke Zero - which is a sugar-free version of Coca-Cola - more appealing to men.
Derk Hendriksen, the global brand director for Coca-Cola Zero said "We are very excited to be a part of this highly anticipated movie. Coke Zero and Bond share a global fan base and edgy personality, making this the perfect partnership." And that "By incorporating the traditional visual elements of a Bond film--the trademark silhouettes, the sophisticated Bond girls and the high-energy action--we are able to engage with our core target audience in a way that resonates with them."
The limited edition 'Zero Zero Seven' Coke sold for $3 at upmarket department store Harrods in London, as well as being available at other outlets across the UK.
