Fall Fig Smoothie
Figs are in season from late June through until the early fall. They are a rich source of dietary fiber. Figs contain benzaldehyde, a cancer-fighting agent. They are high in potassium, B-vitamins, calcium and magnesium. It is best to choose soft, plump dark brown figs with thin skins. Remove the skins and blend the flesh and seeds. You can find figs in Middle Eastern Grocery Stores. I got mine at my favourite Middle Eastern Grocery store, Balady's

We are sweetening this smoothie with stevia. People have been asking me about stevia. It is an herb. It is a small tender shrub native to Paraguay and adjacent areas of Brazil, now grown all over the world. It is the leaves that are used. Stevea is an energy booster, natural sweetener, tonic, helps with digestion and diuretic. Stevia's main benefit is that it is a safe sweetener and sugar alternative. It is 300 times sweeter than sugar. It prevents cavities and does not trigger a rise in your blood sugar. It increases your energy and improves your digestion by stimulating your pancreas without feeding yeast or fungus in your body. I am using a liquid extract today.
