While I was working on my Liquid Light project in the darkroom today, I made a small error. I spread the liquid emulsion on the wrong side of my canvas which resulted in the emulsion lifting off the acrylic gesso on the canvas. This was pretty interesting to me, so I went with it. By the end, ( I had to turn off the camera to keep working) I had successfully lifted the whole image off the canvas, slid a sheet of plastic between the emulsion and the canvas. After that, I tipped the water tray and let the water run out so I could lift the canvas out with the plastic and emulsion intact. After that I picked up the plastic, set a dry piece of watercolor paper on top, flipped them both over, pressed the still wet emulsion back onto a piece of paper and peeled the plastic off. I might do the whole process again in a couple days, so if I do, I'll video tape that whole process then as well. The actual act of rubbing off the emulsion from the original canvas in the water took about 30-45 minutes.
