The years spent reverently studying the music of Otis Redding and Etta James, the grueling tours, the tragic death of 4 family members in the space of a few years all led to the Music + Arts recording studio at Archer Records in Memphis last May. In just 11 days, Dana Fuchs exacted the beginning of her climb out of the darkness to proclaim the ultimate truth that Love Lives On, poising herself to face the future with brand new music and a newborn story of redemption.
Dana Fuchs and her music partner, Jon Diamond have crafted an incredible album of new soul-influenced
songs with a little help from new songwriting partners, most notably, Scott Sharrard (Gregg Allman).
The album also features distinctive covers from Memphis icons Otis Redding and Johnny Cash, to render a cohesive body of Memphis Soul done Dana-style.
Helmed by established Memphis producer, Kevin Houston (North Mississippi Allstars, Luther Dickinson, The Bo-Keys, Ian Siegal), Love Lives On features legendary, original Hi Records organist, Rev. Charles Hodges (Al Green, Ann Peebles), Memphis soul veteran, Steve Potts on drums (Stax Records, Booker T., Gregg Allman), plus the Grammy Award winning Memphis horn section from The Bo-Keys and the return of Dana staples, Lenny Kravitz and Joss Stone veteran bassist, Jack Daly and magistral keyboardist, Glenn Patscha on piano and Wurlitzer (Marianne Faithfull, Levon Helm, Bettye LaVette.)
Dana's ferocity is inextricably linked to her vulnerability, making Love Lives On equal parts beautiful, sad and powerful.
Yet somehow, in opening herself, she opens hearts all around her. You will hear it in the tracks on the new album and you may leave the live show both devastated and elated. Her voice and her lyrics take perfect aim and she will pierce your armor.
Prepare to surrender.
Dana is currently on her Love Lives On world tour.
