(17 Feb 2017) KATE UPTON, CHRISTIE BRINKLEY CHEER INCLUSIVE APPROACH AT LAUNCH OF SPORTS ILLUSTRATED SWIMSUIT MAGAZINE 2017
Kate Upton, Christie Brinkley and Chrissy Teigen - who brought husband John Legend - were among the models at the launch event of the 2017 edition of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit magazine, Thursday (16 FEB. 2017).
Upton, who returns to the magazine's cover for the third time, says the new issue celebrates women of all shapes and sizes.
"This issue of the magazine is really inspiring for me because it's all about women of every shape and size, showing their confidence and every age - Christie Brinkley is in the magazine. And so to have women embrace their bodies and love their bodies and feel confident in that no matter what size they are is really great to have in this industry."
63-year-old former Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover model Christie Brinkley is proud to have returned to its pages, and contribute to the fight against ageism.
"It was an unexpected opportunity to say to other women my age that you know, if you take good care of yourself, if you eat right, we don't have to fear age as much as society tells us to," she smiles.
"She's always been so body positive and so accepting of herself," noted her daughter Sailor Brinkley Cook, who along with sister Alexa Ray Joel, joined her mother at the event. "That's been my inspiration through life, it's awesome."
Hunter McGrady makes her debut in the magazine. She said she wants to lead the charge for curvy women.
"I'm so inspired, all I want is for women to look at my images, feel proud about their bodies, feel proud about themselves because they should, they absolutely should," McGrady said.
"This is a revolution, it's going to take over. Trust me, I'm going to make it."
