Security officials have confirmed the arrest of 20 individuals who are suspected to have collaborated with the ADF rebels in the attack of St. Peter Hunter Secondary School in Kasese district. This heinous attack resulted into a tragic loss of at least 42 lives.
However, there are concerns regarding the whereabouts of several students who are were abducted by the ADF during the raid.
Preliminary investigations into the attack on St. Peters Hunter Secondary School in Mpondwe Lhubiriha Town Council, Kasese District, point to premeditated planning involving the collaboration of certain community members.
20 residents have been arrested for their involvement in facilitating the raid.
The school, situated approximately 1.5 kilometers away from the Congo-Uganda border, was targeted on Friday night. The assailants employed firearms, machetes, and Petrol improvised explosives to carry out the destructive act.
Through postmortem examinations, the DNA of 23 deceased individuals has been identified and bodies handed over to respective families for burial arrangements.
The exact number of captives and missing students remains uncertain at this time. The school's headmaster and other administrators are currently undergoing interrogation regarding the incident.
The Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF) and other security agencies have initiated community engagement efforts while closely scrutinizing potential collaborators associated with the ADF, aiming to counteract their terrorist activities
