Just hours before the start of the Japan-South Korea summit, North Korea fired what appeared to be an intercontinental ballistic missile. Washington has called on Pyongyang to refrain from any further "unlawful or destabilising acts", while Seoul condemned the launch and vowed a firm response to the show of force.
