STORYLINE:
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Thursday received the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani for talks at the Chancellery in Berlin.
Earlier Scholz told the Parliament that Qatar played an important role in mediating the crisis in the Middle East.
Scholz added that he was also in touch with Egyptian and Turkish leaders.
"To the critics of such contacts and the fact that we are talking, I say: it would be irresponsible not to use all the contacts that can help in this dramatic situation," he said during a speech on the situation.
