Mis- and disinformation are a growing threat all around the world. The goal of this training is to explain how misinformation and disinformation are used against public and private organizations and against people, and what can we do to understand it and counter it. In this session, Constanza starts by introducing her audience to the work of data.org. Then she goes on to define misinformation and disinformation then she expounds on how it occurs on social media and on the web in general.
About Trainer:
Costanza Sciubba Caniglia is the Director of Communications of data.org, where she works on building the profile of the organization as the leading voice in building the community of data science for social impact. Costanza is a journalist and researcher on misinformation and the importance of data for effective public communications. She is affiliated with the Shorenstein Center at Harvard and is an editor of the Harvard Kennedy School Misinformation Review. She also leads a research team working on information operations with the Review and the University LUISS of Rome. She previously worked at the United Nations in New York, including as a spokesperson on the UN Security Council and as a Public Information expert. As a journalist, she focused on international politics and the multilateral system.
