Could the old some abandoned LIRR tracks in Queens be revived to restore rail service to southern Queens? Or will it be turned into a park?
Transportation advocates want the MTA to bring back commuter rail service along the long-abandoned Rockaway Beach Branch, while environmentalists and open-space advocates say a more realistic option is to create a 3.5-mile linear park, kind of like the High Line in Manhattan. It would be called the QueensWay.
