Craig Hatkoff, co-founder of the Tribeca Film Festival, combined his passion for storytelling with innovative philanthropic efforts. Craig Hatkoff created the Tribeca Film Festival along with wife Jane Rosenthal and Robert DeNiro to revitalize the devastated lower Manhattan area in the wake of 9/11. The festival has become a pillar of New York culture and supports community development and promising young artists. Craig Hatkoff uses his talent for storytelling to empower young people through childrenâs books. With the support of Scholastic, Craig Hatkoff and his daughters wrote Owen and Mzee, the story of the unlikely friendship between an orphaned baby hippo and a 130 year old tortoise. The Owen and Mzee foundation encourages children to participate in philanthropy and is currently working to protect the people and Mountain Gorillas of the Congo.
