Gate motors run of 12 volt or 24 volt batteries.
Gate motors only uses electricity to charge the battery and thus, the gate motor is actually a battery operated gate motor.
To test a 12 volt battery, it needs to be placed under load.
measuring a 12 volt gate motor battery will indicate what the voltage is, but it will never indicate what the stored power in the battery is.
so to demonstrate, here a fully charged 12 volt 12v test battery is used to operate the sliding gate motor. Check at what speed, the gate motor is run. there is no limiting factor here, the electrical motor has all its power it needs to run.
one can see that the gate motor is running at a very high speed.
some Centurion gate motors do have a audible beeping sound which will indicate what the fault is, so it is paramount that ones listens to a gate motor or even just checking , looking at the gate motor when it is operating the steel sliding gate. a gate motor which is jumping around clearly indicates that problems are present.
