STORYLINE:
Doctors in Pakistan said on Thursday that politician Imran Khan is making good progress following his dramatic fall at a rally earlier this week.
Khan is being treated at the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre in Lahore.
He fractured three vertebrae and a rib when he fell about five metres (15 feet) off a forklift that was raising him and three guards to a stage in the city on Tuesday.
Doctor Faisal Sultan told reporters outside the hospital that Khan "is in good spirits, eating and chatting. His morale is high. We are satisfied with all his medical issues."
However, there was no word on when Khan would be discharged.
Sultan confirmed that the prominent politician would not be allowed out of hospital on Friday to cast his vote in his home constituency of Mianwali, in north-west Punjab.
With national elections due on 11 May, Khan's injuries have largely knocked him out of the last few days of campaigning.
His fall put a damper on what has been one of Pakistan's most dynamic election campaigns.
Khan earned legendary status in the country when he led the underdog national team to a 1992 cricket World Cup victory, and had injected new energy into a political system long dominated by dynasties.
He entered politics in the late 1990s but it wasn't until 2011 that his party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, gained a widespread national following.
His party is now considered one of the three main challengers in the upcoming election.
