From a 1993 episode of "The Indoor Garden" TV series: Here are some answers to the questions, "How often should I water my palm? How much water does it need? What's this weird growth showing up on my Neanthe bella palm? There is also some more info on this long-time favorite houseplant.
This clip from "The Indoor Garden" TV show does contain one mistake: plants in a 6" (15cm) diameter pot usually will take about a pint of water (almost 1/2 liter), not a quart.
There are shorter and taller pots so the amount of water can vary a little. It's always best with any plant to determine how much water they need by making sure a small amount comes through the bottom of the pot and into the saucer. Plants shouldn't sit in water for very long.
