April 18 is observed as the International Day for Monuments and Sites or World Heritage Day, it is all about raising awareness of the importance of protecting and preserving various sites around the world that have achieved world heritage status.
India is home to 35 World Heritage Sites, a World Heritage site is classified as a natural or man-made area or a structure that is of international importance, and a space which requires special protection.
These sites are officially recognised by the UN and the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation, also known as UNESCO.

1) EpicFacts - Nalanda University:
It is believed that 90% of the remains at Nalanda University still remain unexcavated.

The temples are made of sandstone and belong to the 8-10th century CE.

This was home to the Nawabs of Junagadh
