【Pls look at the top comment first】In 2015, a group of Italian musicians recorded an especially brilliant album, entitled "Tales From The Sun". The coming out of this album became a big surprise for the majority who is deeply fond of aor. These musicians formed "Zaneta". Several years ago, Zaneta was a new band, who did their best in aor scene.
Zaneta was formed in 2013 in Milan, consisting of four music talents. People may find the recent Zaneta consists of five members according to some pictures from the band's facebook page. That is true. A new bassist joined the band and the frontman Simone Roman then focuses on lead vocals and rhythm guitars, who played the multiple roles on vocals, rhythm guitars and bass in the past. Though there is a tiny line-up change in the current Zaneta, the band keeps on their best rock spirits with aor essence.
The keyboardist Steff Brusa played in Eva before, an underrated Italian aor band with brilliant musical works. Less news that can be heard from Eva today, but in Zaneta, Steff has established his important position as a piano and keyboards virtuoso. Fabrizio "Bicio" Leo played on lead guitars in the album. Here the solo passage is the highlight of the song featuring ingenious musical interval from the tunes. It is worth mentioning that he is the first Italian guitarist to be signed by Shrapnel Records with three solo albums and tons of collaboration with the best artists from Italy.
According to the band's description below their youtube video, music of Zaneta was born by the passion of the 4 piece assembly for the great AOR bands of the past (Journey, Toto, Giant, Survivor), but the influences of the musicians gave the album a special personal sound. Of course the description on their music feature is true. The four bands they mentioned are the 1980s legends, featuring most of the nostalgic sounds in music from poppy aor like Toto to melodic hard rock like Giant. Zaneta's music combines both melodic hard rock with pure aor, but features more modern taste in creations and arrangements. To catch the charms of modern aor sounds, don't miss the epic albums released by Danish label Lions Pride Music. Zaneta's superb debut "Tales From The Sun" is one of the top-class releases from the label on modern aor scene.
"Tales From The Sun" will carry sunshine in your mood and make you smile on your face. Musically, this is a very decent aor album driven by keyboards. They are dedicated to the details of each song and let each song full of hooks. A bit different from many 1980s nostalgic aor sounds, these bright modern aor sounds are truly appropriate for everyone to enjoy when roaming in the metropolitan cities like Milan.
The flaming songs such as "Maryanne", "Coming Back" and "I Won't Cry" feature solid aor taste to excite every unstoppable heart. The ballad "Stay" seems to be the highlight from the album and there are two versions of "Saturday". In the Japanese released CD, the bonus "Saturday" is a fantastic ballad driven by piano and string, which sounds like music from paradise. The piano and acoustic guitars from the decent mid-tempo track "Not This Time" make its tunes filled with warmth like sunshine injected into heart. Imagine that someone saw you on the street and put an earphone on your head with the sounds from this "Feel You Now", making you smile. That was true in the song's music video. How luckly you were to be chosen by Zaneta in the city as they shared it with you!
Finally, it is never too exaggerated to say that the coming out of Zaneta is a new light on aor scene in Italy. Maybe at present, the band is still less-known and underrated, but time will prove everything.
