Sloan played live at MuchMusic's Snow Job '97.
It took place in March 1997 at Marble Mountain near Corner Brook, Newfoundland. Yep, Newfoundland has a dynamite ski resort. But it's in the middle of the North Atlantic in March. It was cold!
Sloan, Wilco, Big Sugar and other artists braved the elements and performed outdoors at the base of the mountain (we had to get that gorgeous backdrop).
You'll notice at one point, bassist Chris Murphy is playing with woolen mitts on. I think he could do that bass because his bass (Harmony?) had flat wound strings, so the wool didn't get caught in the windings like it would with round wound strings. He had come prepared.
The true joy they experienced playing for the crowd is evident. They had a lot of fun!
They switched instruments -- sometimes Chris played drums and Andrew came upfront to play guitar and sing songs he'd written.
Each member took turns singing their tunes.
Bonus -- catch Chris Murphy's excellent ski lesson!
I directed and edited this set.
This is a higher quality version than the one I'd posted previously.
