Double vision can happen because of nerve related or muscle related conditions. Remember that we have two eyes. Both eyes have to see together for single vision to form. If there is slight discrepancy in the area where the two eyes see double vision occurs. So nerve related or neurological causes we call it as nerve palsies or nerve paralysis can lead to double vision or muscle related problems in the form of congenital squint or acquired squint. Any damage to the muscle can also lead to double vision. Depending on the cause we treat the double vision. If the doubling is very minimal they can be managed with prisms itself. If it is more then a simple squint surgery will be required. If it is a nerve related cause we just treat the cause and wait for the cause to recover. There are certain other causes for double vision such as optical causes. Sometimes the glasses what you wear or the surgery what you have done or the lens that is been injected into the eye is causing the problem. If it is this appropriate measures have to be taken. The best is to approach your nearest ophthalmologist.
