Here I'm showing how to unlock the latching mechanism when the release is broken or damaged
I'm demonstrating with the seat down so you can see what needs to happen when the seat is stuck since a camera won't fit in between the seat,
this will work on most seat latching mechanisms or at least give you an idea of where to start, all latch mechanisms for car seats can be unlocked using this method - it may be in a different place or require bending the wire slightly different to unlock it.
This is on an Audi A4 B7, I had a problem with my seat not latching, then it locked and wouldn't open at all. The release is broken.
It's important you have to have it in the right spot when you're pulling up and if you try a bunch of times and it doesn't work, try making a new tool. What happens is the metal gets softer when you bend it so a fresh piece of wire may do the trick
