Two Just Stop Oil activists smashed the glass cover of a painting at the London National Gallery on Monday, wielding safety hammers.

The painting they targeted was an artwork from the 1600s which was previously smashed by the suffragette Mary Richardson in 1914. 'Women did not get the vote by voting. It is time for deeds and not words. It is time to just stop oil,' said one of them.
