Ahmed Ghoneim from Cairo University reflects on the topic and discussion of the ERF 17th Annual Conference. For Mr. Ghoneim, the topic of the event has been extremely timing, with most of the plenary sessions focusing on the recent Arab revolutions and trying to provide a political economic explanation for these events. He further underlines how the whole world is moving towards a new political and economic equilibrium. In this context, ERF can continue playing a central role in the region by undertaking research activities that help in explaining how economics interacts with social and political aspects.
