Home School Chemistry Day 73
Unit 8: Matter and Energy/Thermodynamics
Melting Ice, Heat of Fusion of Water Lab Activity
In this lab activity I will determine the heat of fusion of ice using:
- a styrofoam cup (recycle from a milkshake)
- a graduated cylinder
- a thermometer (a digital kitchen thermometer will work just fine)
and doing a little bit of math! We'll also use the percent error equation to figure out how far off our data is from the accepted value. This will truly measure the quality of the calorimeter.
