My full review on the then-new 2016 BMW M2. Crooked seats and barely defeatable auto-blipping were no match for a manual transmission, limited-slip diff and rear-wheel drive.
It got better with the M2 Competition — at least the UX did. The M2 Comp's S55 never sounded as good. And the M2 CS? Well that's a riot, too. But with a reflash (or unplugged Hall Sender) to disable auto-blip, the original M2 might be the sweet spot today.
Especially if you ignore the 1M Coupe.
