Microlights are a great class of aircraft, both flex wing and 3-axis. Terrific power to weight ratio means high performance, low weight also means low stall speed (35 knots ~ 40mph), speed is life, making them incredibly safe to fly with low energy landings anywhere. Additional layers of safety are provided by the fitment of Ballistic Recovery systems though you are having a real bad day if you ever need to use it.
Best of all they are affordable and can actually be owned for the price of a second hand car! You do not need to buy (missed this in the video!), when you pass most schools will let you rent the aircraft. You could also join a syndicate. Wish I started sooner!
Video is not exhaustive and there are a number of simplifications, so please comment with any questions you may have and I will do my best to answer. Or have a look in the CAA CAP 482 doc.
