Tribute to Jane Austen~ December 16,1775 - July 18, 1817
♥ If you're a fan of Austen and have read some or all of her novels, please let me know which one you consider your favorite. I love Pride and Prejudice but Sense and Sensibility will always be my favorite. I also have a soft spot for Northanger Abbey as well :)
• Although it makes me sad that Jane died on a day like today I take it as a reminder to be grateful for her books and just everything I've learned from her (yes, as cheese-stastic as that sounds). It was because of her that I decided to study English literature and ironically enough it's because of her that I get a hard time from other students in my faculty. I couldn't care less.
• On December 1802 a man named Harris Bigg-Wither proposed to Jane and she accepted. The very next day she changed her mind and refused his offer. Neither she nor her sister ever married and as it is, writing became Jane's profession during a time when the average woman wouldn't dream of having one. Only six complete novels were published, four of those during her lifetime, and every single one of them is considered a masterpiece. She chose a hard path in life, but I believe she chose the one that made her happy.
♥ So yeah, I do admire Jane Austen and I think she deserves it.
