Young people today are the generation that will be most affected by climate change. Across the world they are doing extraordinary things to challenge and change the way we live to save their future. Our built environments do not reflect the values - and critically the needs - of future generations. How can we urgently change this? What if young people designed our future? Join us to hear how we can challenge, reconsider and redesign our built environment.

Ewan Anderson is an Architect and Urban Designer who leads 7N Architects, an Edinburgh based design practice who specialise in generating innovative ideas that make better places through transformational change. The practice is focused on unlocking the full potential of places, spaces and buildings by bringing together architecture, urban design, landscape and masterplanning in an integrated approach to placemaking.
Speakers:
Tiia Partanen is a multi-award-winning early career architect, a recent graduate from the University of Strathclyde. Tiia’s final year project investigated the concept of surveillance capitalism and the environmental impact of the big data industry, and proposed the creation of an ethical, sustainable new internet. After graduating in 2021, Tiia joined Collective Architecture and is working towards her RIBA Part 3 accreditation.
Scott McAulay (he/him) is a climate justice activist, architectural designer, and coordinator of the Anthropocene Architecture School - an internationally recognised agile, architectural education platform. Scott has taught at schools of architecture internationally, is a Part 2 architectural assistant at Architype, helps coordinate ACAN's Climate Literacy Working Group, supports climate justice and tenants rights campaigns in Scotland, and was a RIBAJ Rising Star in 2020.
Catriona Patterson is passionate about enabling young people to be at the heart of the decision making which will determine their future. She is a volunteer and trustee of 2050 Climate Group (a youth-led, volunteer-led charity which focuses on empowering young leaders to take climate action towards a just and sustainable society) and works with cultural and third sector organisations across Scotland to progress climate and social justice. She led 'Cultural Adaptations': an EU project which explored the cultural impacts and implications of climate change for cities and communities across north-west Europe.
V&A Dundee’s Young People’s Collective (YPC) is a group which meets weekly to co-design programmes for 14-24 year olds, develop new design-related skills and represent young people's voices throughout the museum. YPC have helped curate exhibitions and attended the first ever international EduJAM, as well as co-designing the opening of Scotland's Design Musuem. Graham Hogg is one of the co-founders of Lateral North [[ Ссылка ]] and is the co-founder and the managing director of After the Pandemic [[ Ссылка ]]. Graham has worked extensively throughout Scotland as well as developing key projects internationally. Recently, Graham has been involved in developing a carbon-neutral, community focused master plan for Strathclyde Country Park. As part of Lateral North he has led on projects within the Nordic and Arctic regions. Working alongside Anchorage Museum and other Alaskan partners for the past three years, Graham has developed the ‘Mapping Anchorage’ project, as well as a collaborative future vision for the north; Future Arctic.
