A femoral nerve block is one of the most useful nerve block techniques. As opposed to more distal analgesia techniques - such as femoral triangle block, or adductor canal block - a femoral nerve block can also be used as complete anesthesia for surgery of the knee. In this video, Dr. Hadzic teaches a femoral nerve block in a morbidly obese patient. He also demonstrates clinical tricks, the utility of femoral catheters, and how to accomplish prolonged analgesia without a catheter, by using a mixture of Bupivacaine and Exparel.
