2023 Mercedes‑Benz E‑Class
The 2023 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is the leader in four incredibly competitive segments that include some of the best luxury cars in the world. The E-Class sedan, coupe, cabriolet, and wagon combine well-tailored exterior styling and striking interiors with technological excellence. The Mercedes-Benz E-Class is a 5-seater vehicle that comes in 4 trim levels. The most popular style is the E 350 Sedan 4MATIC, which starts at $60,400 and comes with a 2.0L I4 Turbo engine and All Wheel Drive. This E-Class is estimated to deliver 21 MPG in the city and 30 MPG on the highway.
2023 BMW 5 Series
Controversy hasn't come for the 2023 BMW 5 Series yet. With any luck, it won't. We're talking about the massive bucktooth grilles that hang from the front of recently redesigned BMWs like the M3, X5, X7, and the new iX electric model. BMW's design liberties have met with less than enthusiastic response, so we're relieved that the 5 Series instead adopts a wide, stretched version of the brand's iconic grille. Early photos of the next facelift, due in 2024, also suggest that the 5 Series will escape the bucktooth treatment.
2023 Lexus ES
The Lexus ES offers as much comfort as a European luxury sedan but with better reliability and fuel economy, practical attributes that help justify its well-heeled pricing. The ES's smooth ride and excellent craftsmanship make for one of the most serene driving experiences under $50,000. An available hybrid powertrain achieves 44 mpg.
2022 Jaguar XF
As buyers become more obsessed with SUVs, Jaguar has whittled its sedan portfolio down to one model: the midsize XF. Updated in 2021, the latest iteration of Jaguar's flagship sedan features a new turbocharged four-cylinder engine, better handling, and one of the most comfortable interiors in a class that includes the BMW 5 Series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, and Audi A6. As you would expect, the XF has modern technology and plenty of standard safety features, along with a tastefully appointed cabin that easily accommodates four adults. What you might not expect is the Jaguar's competitive pricing as it undercuts many of its rivals with a base price that starts well under $50K.
2023 Cadillac CT5‑V
The Cadillac CT5-V and CT5-V Blackwing are the high-performance versions of the standard Cadillac CT5 midsize sedan. Both take nearly every aspect of the sedan's performance and crank it up a notch to provide a more responsive feel and blistering acceleration. The supercharged 668-horsepower Blackwing model, able to sprint from rest to 60 mph in as little as 3.4 seconds, represents the culmination of more than 20 years of midsize sport-sedan development. The beauty of both the CT5-V and Blackwing is that the roomy and comfortable four-door Cadillac sedans have retained their luxury brand missions, featuring available, advanced Magnetic Ride Control that's capable of delivering pinpoint handling along with a smooth, boulevard ride.
2023 Genesis G70
The Genesis G70 is a 5-seater vehicle that comes in 2 trim levels. The most popular style is the 2.0T RWD, which starts at $40,525 and comes with a 2.0L I4 Turbo engine and Rear Wheel Drive. This G70 is estimated to deliver 21 MPG in the city and 31 MPG on the highway.
2023 Audi A6
Audi's extensive lineup of high-end luxury sedans includes the Audi A6, the Goldilocks model in the portfolio. The A6 slots in between the compact Audi A4 and flagship Audi A8 sedans. With a choice of robust powertrains and standard all-wheel drive, the A6 feels capable and controlled. It's also pretty fuel-efficient, even with its all-wheel drivetrain, and it offers one of the classiest cabins of all midsize luxury sedans. A robust list of standard infotainment and advanced safety tech, and optional extras, also makes the A6 a standout.
The A6 doesn't have quite the same sporty edge as its BMW 5 Series rival. With its livelier suspension and crisper steering, the 5 Series is sharper overall. But the Audi still handles a winding road with more verve than the Lexus ES 350 or Genesis G80 2.5.
The Lexus ES 350 is much more affordable, starting at $42,025, and comes with a potent V6 engine and many of the same features as the A6. The Genesis starts at $48,745, gets better gas mileage, and delivers more horsepower than the A6. It also features bold exterior design that doesn't fade into the background. The Cadillac CT5-V is another compelling alternative with a 360-horsepower V6 and sharp, responsive handling. The interior isn't as refined as the A6 and the ride is rougher around the edges, but it's a worthy rival.
