Organized by the World Tourism Organization, the Ministry of Energy, Tourism and the Digital Agenda of Spain and the Government of the Principality of Asturias, the II UNWTO World Conference on Smart Destinations, will be held in Oviedo (Asturias, Spain) from the 25th – 27th of June 2018.

The objective of the Congress has been to lead and shape new tourism models for the 21st century based on innovation, technology, sustainability, governance and accessibility, components of the Smart Tourist Destinations.

Over the past years, advances in technology have led to the invisible ubiquity of Artificial Intelligence without most people even noticing. Although machine learning is already the backbone of many tourism-relevant apps and services, the most visible manifestation of AI in tourism have been virtual assistants. This last Smart Talk of the #SDWC2018 offer the opportunity for participants to get the latest insights on how AI will impact the future of tourism.
