Algarve, Portugal. A video shot from a drone in 4k tells about the extreme South of Portugal - the Algarve. You can get a bird's eye view of heavenly landscapes located on the edge of the Earth, or a noisy entertainment part of the region in this video review.
general information
A small region of Algarve with a population of 451 thousand people is located in the south of Portugal. From the south and west, it is washed by the Atlantic Ocean, in the east it borders on Spain across the Guadiana River, and in the north - with the Alentejo region of Portugal. The name comes from the Arabic language, as the inhabitants of the East called the country located in the west. Despite the fact that in the 13th century the region was included in the Portuguese kingdom, it was mentioned separately from the country for a long time. Since the second half of the last century, the Algarve has become very popular among European tourists. This is due to the fact that it is an almost continuous strip of beaches.
Capital
The administrative center of the region is the city and seaport of Faro with a population of just over a hundred thousand inhabitants.
Algarve beaches
There are a lot of beaches in the Algarve. There are several of the most popular among them. Praia da Rocha - rock beach - is surrounded by sharp rocks. In the evenings, noisy parties are held here and there is even a casino. Among visitors, it is called the "California of Europe." Praia de Armada is highly sought after by surfers due to its high waves and not too many tourists. Praia de Marinha is popular for its rich underwater world, which is why tourists snorkel here. Praia da Dona Ana is an immortal classic with white sand, blue sea and sharp cliffs. Romantics should go on a glass-bottomed boat to the Piedade grottoes. Snorkeling is also popular here.
Nature
The nature of the Algarve is characterized by endless sandy beaches, steep hillsides with cozy white houses sunk in fragrant blooming almond and orange orchards. Landscape lovers will admire the reddish cliffs against the backdrop of the blue ocean, and the battle forts and old churches will fall into the treasury of the most beautiful places in the country.
Main cities: Albufeira, Faro, Portimão, Lagos
Albufeira is a large and lively city in the region. The city boasts a rich nightlife, an abundance of fashionable and more basic hotels and a wide range of entertainment for tourists.
Faro, the capital, is the southernmost city in Portugal. The city is not only popular with tourists, but often becomes a relocation destination due to its favorable climate, quality education, security and overall high standard of living.

What to watch?
The best places to visit the Algarve are often hidden away in the region's nooks and crannies. For example, the Benagil Cave fascinates with its pristine beauty, reminiscent of the surface of Mars. And the way to it will be a real adventure, since you can get to the creation of nature only by boat across the ocean.
Lovers of a relaxing holiday will appreciate Tavira, a small authentic Portuguese town that occupies both banks of the Gilan River. Snow-white low-rise houses with tiled roofs and small churches attract fans of a relaxing family holiday.
Cape Ponta da Piedade is a giant rock 20 meters high, surrounded by an endless ocean. In addition to picturesque landscapes, fans of diving, fishing and sailing gather here.

The capital of the region is home to churches, chapels and monasteries, as well as the Bishop's Palace. In Portimão, it is worth visiting the Alvar Castle or the Abreu Palace, and you can get as close to history as possible in the prehistoric necropolis of Alcalar.
The small fishing town of Olhão also deserves attention. On its territory there is the largest fish market and an old cathedral church. Not far from the city is the Ria Formosa National Park.
