Vishal Bhardwaj speaks about Shakespeare's play Othello. Omkara is a 2006 Indian crime drama film adapted from Shakespeare’s Othello, co-written and directed by Vishal Bhardwaj.

'I came to know quite late about Shakespeare's drama, I was introduced to Shakespeare when I was doing research for Makdee. In school, you are taught 'Merchant of Venice' or any play of Shakespeare but they are like any other subject. I was introduced to Shakespeare a few years back. When we talk of Shakespeare, we think that it is something literary which masses cannot understand, but he is not like that, the drama is so intense and humor is very effective. I read all his plays and now I can make a film on all his plays because they have the potential of cinema and can be adapted in any country', said the director of Omkara, Vishal Bhardwaj.
