In early March, the Hubei province joined forces with many car companies to launch a government-enterprise subsidy policy, which means that whilst enjoying the price reductions from car companies, car buyers can also receive government subsidies ranging from RMB$5000 to RMB $90000. According to the Chinese media, many car companies in Hubei province are participating, with Wuhan-based Dongfeng Group, China’s second-largest car manufacturer being the main supporter. The Citroen C6, originally priced at RMB$210,000, can be brought with a government subsidy of RMB$90,000, so the final price would have been reduced by almost 40%, and purchased for only RMB$120,000. The Citroen C3-XR was even more heavily discounted, as the original price was RMB$114,000 and with the RMB$58,000 subsidy, the final price is 50% of the original price.
