Xue Chen and Xia Xinyi are getting set to represent China in women's beach volleyball at the Summer Olympics as the only team from China to feature in this event.
The pair will be seeded 8th when they take to the court, which is located at the foot of the Eiffel Tower. The 35-year-old Xue competed at her first Olympics way back in 2008, where she won a bronze medal in Beijing. She missed Rio due to injury, and suffered an early exit in Tokyo. Close to retiring, Xue announced her return in February last year. Meanwhile, the 27-year-old Xia first teamed up with Xue seven years ago, and before that she paired with other teammates to achieve a three peat at the Asian Games and this will be her second Olympic appearance after Tokyo. Since reuniting last year, the two won titles at hom including that Asian Games triumph and the Continental Cup last month in Ningbo. And they are happy with the chemistry and bond that continues to grow.
