Autogenic Training is a form of self-hypnosis that was developed in the 1930s. It is still very popular in Europe and also used in the United States, for example by NASA to help astronauts relax and deal with stress.
Autogenic Training is helpful for stress, anxiety, depression, and especially insomnia. Using self-suggestion, you train your body to respond to simple verbal commands and visualizations.
Don't give up if it does not work the first time - the emphasis is on training :) I use this approach myself when I am having a hard time falling asleep and love it. Give it a try!
