Vellore Fort, a perfect specimen of military architecture is located in Vellore,130kms from Chennai and 10kms from Katpadi.There is a longbig moat around the fort that is still filled with water. At one time it was having full of crocodiles. The fort, which is well preserved and the complex has, Jalakandeswarar temple,a Church,a mosque ,courts and a police training centre now. There is a museum here which exhibits sculptures,painitings and handicrafts.Jalakandeswarar temple situated inside the fort premises has very beautiful sculptures.Pleasure boat services are operated in the moat water around the fort.
