the ledge aerial loop for these 3 weapons behave slightly differently from the previously showcased trio (Greatsword, Hammer, Longsword). With these 3, the hunter has to be locked into a direction via actions such as attack. Simply running off a ledge, non direction-locked roll over a ledge, or forward roll over a ledge, don't count for whatever reason.


00:00 Aerial Gunlance
Either back hop or direction-locked side hop over the ledge, and perform the jumping smash while in the air. The hunter will lunge towards the direction the hunter is facing when hopping, NOT the direction of the hop.

The jumping smash can be executed at such rate that the Gunlance can fail to quick reload. It is also quicker to loop burst fire compared to the classic ground loop. Burst fire that close to the ledge tends to push the hunter off the ledge, so my current setup for that is to back hop slightly at an angle and hope I don't run out of ledge anytime soon.


01:20 Aerial Hunting Horn... yep
Same mechanic, simply direction-locked roll over the edge and perform while in the air. Otherwise there's not much else to say. I may come back to explore more on this when I rebuild my Hunting Horn set.


02:51 Aerial Lance...?
I'm really stretching the definition of aerial [weapon_name] here, but this is in essence a ledge aerial loop. The idea is to slightly go over the ledge with an attack, then guard dash backward while barely falling, and the game will push the hunter back and upward while guarding in midair. Rinse and repeat.

I found two setup for this. None of which adds anything to regular lancing, except making the hunter looks cool... or stupid.


On a side note, other weapons don't seem to exhibit such behavior even with direction-locked method, so far at least. I did try Bowguns, not worth mentioning for the time being.
