Toyota unveiled a daring concept car at the centenary edition of the 24-Hours of Le Mans Race: the Prius 24h Le Mans Centennial GR Edition.

Toyota introduced the Prius nameplate in 1997, and the car became the spearhead for the hybrid-car revolution. Right from the start, it was an eco-friendly family hauler that boasted excellent fuel efficiency. Up until the fifth generation of this moniker, neither version of it was sporty.

All that might change after the Japanese automaker unveiled the Prius 24h Le Mans Centennial GR Edition in France last month with the occasion of the centenary edition of this well-known endurance race. The concept is based on the fifth generation of the Prius and was cooked by Toyota's motorsports department, Gazoo Racing.
