What are temperaments?
Foods can either have a cooling or heating effect on the body. Depending on the person's natural temperament or their altered (due to certain health conditions), eating certain foods will balance the body for optimal health.
This science comes from ancient wisdom (alternative medicine) and is practiced all over the world through different cultural lenses. This is similar to traditional Chinese medicine (yin - yang) theory as well as the Doshas Ayurveda practices. Unani/Greek Tibb categories people into temperaments that can be either hot/cold and moist/dry. Any person is a mix of all of these with one being most dominant. Eating foods that are suitable for a person's temperament will balance the body for easier digestion and absorption of nutrients.
