A SAN DIEGO BEACH WAS CLOSED DUE TO PEOPLE HARASSING SEA LIONS!

Due to many problems between people and sea lions, a famous beach in San Diego will be closed for seven years. This beach, called Point La Jolla and Boomer’s Beach, is a special place for baby sea lions to be born, which is unusual because usually, sea lions have their babies on islands or near quiet cliffs.

This place is very famous for sea lions because it has rocky edges, sandy beaches, and lots of food in the nearby underwater canyons. But the problem is that it's also a very public place, so sometimes people and sea lions don't get along very well.

In 2021, a baby sea lion died at La Jolla Cove because some people backed it up to a cliff, and the waves kept hitting it on the rocks.

One person from the Sierra Club,, said she saw someone kick the sea lions just to make them look up for a photo. She called the beach a "messy and crazy" place because of how people act around the sea lions.
The Original Surfers supports the closing of Point La Jolla and Boomer’s Beach in order to protect the sea lions.
