"Running is bad for your knees"

🗣️Someone may have told you that running is bad for the knees.
💀That someone may have even been a doctor.
🤦♂️However, that statement is simply untrue.
📚Research has shown that running as an activity itself does not BAD on your joints. In fact, there are some studies that imply that it may be protective!
😮Actually, being sedentary and not moving has shown to be even worse for joint health. (Alentorn-Geli et al. 2017)
🍒And to put the cherry on top of all this...
😉There is some evidence to show that runners may have thicker discs in the spine! (Mitchell et al. 2020)
⚠️Now, as a professional who works with runners, I believe it is my responsibility to bring some nuance to this conversation.
💨While I mentioned that running itself is not bad for your joints, this does not mean you should ignore and run through pain.
🏋️♂️This is similar to exercising itself.
💎It is known that exercise can be great for your health; however, too much of it without adequate recovery can lead to some problems.
🔑Finding that balance is key.
