On this day 21 years ago, over 100 civilians were massacred in Ahmići in central Bosnia and Herzegovina, when Bosnian Croat forces attacked the Bosnian Muslim inhabitants of the village. The attack was part of a campaign to cleanse Ahmići of its Bosnian Muslim inhabitants. Muslim houses were destroyed, along with two mosques. The burning of houses and killing of livestock was clearly intended to deprive the inhabitants of their most precious assets. A number of people were tried before the ICTY in relation to the Ahmići massacre: Dario Kordić, Mario Čerkez, Tihomir Blaškić, Miroslav Bralo, Drago Josipović, Vladimir Šantić, Dragan Papić and Zoran, Mirjan and Vlatko Kupreškić.

The crimes committed in Ahmići will be presented in greater detail in the upcoming ICTY documentary, "Crimes before the ICTY: Central Bosnia".
