Hand Me Down My Fiddle & Bow is Lindsay Davis' and Mark Geslison’s rendition of an old American song. It was highly adapted from the original to fit the instruments played in the video, namely, fiddle and mandolin. This is fun way to arrange a song for a duo where both musicians sing and play their respective instruments. The mandolin is Mark’s 1921 Gibson F4 model. For an instrument over 100 years old, it’s in beautiful condition. The background environment is an apple orchard located in northern Utah less than a half mile from the base of the Wasatch mountains. The deer seen in the background are permanent residents of the orchard. The herd wandered down from the mountains to the orchard decades ago and stayed because they found serenity among the fruit trees—not to mention plenty of orchard grass to eat. The tractor is Mark’s 1948 Farmall Cub. Tractor enthusiasts will know that the Farmall Cub was manufactured between 1947 and 1964 by the International Harvester Corporation (IHC or just IH) based in Chicago, IL. International Harvester Company was the brand name built from a merger between the McCormick Harvesting Machine Company, Deering Harvester Company, and International Harvester Company in 1902. The specific “Farmall” sub-brand was first created in 1923. It was used for 50 years until it was retired in 1973. After that only the International Harvester or IH brand was used.
