One female cheetah, ‘Dhatri’, was found dead at Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh on August 02. This is the ninth casualty since March 2022. The carcass of the cheetah has been sent for post-mortem to ascertain the cause of death, informed Principal Chief Conservator Forest (Wildlife) of Madhya Pradesh Aseem Shrivastava. “Post-mortem is underway to ascertain the cause of its death. No cheetah died due to the radio collars. There is no scientific evidence for this. The survival rates for Cheetahs are low even in South Africa or Namibia. This is an experimental project and we will move forward with the learnings from it. The cause of the deaths of most of the cheetahs was natural,” said Aseem Shrivastava while speaking to ANI.
