Welcome to Karangahape Road (K Road) in Auckland's CBD on a Thursday night in summer 2021. Since the early 1990s it has developed as a focus for nightlife; its restaurants, bars and nightclubs make it a major part of Auckland's social scene. It is also known for its trendy op shops, and craft and art collectives.
K' Road runs west–east along a ridge at the southern edge of the Auckland CBD, perpendicular to Queen Street, the city's main street. At its intersection with Ponsonby Road in the west, Karangahape Road becomes Great North Road, at its eastern end it connects to Grafton Bridge.
Some notable locations seen in the video are:
-St Kevins Arcade
-Warisan Uncle Man's Restaurant and Takeaway
-Coco's Cantina
The walk was recorded at around 10pm in early summer in 2021 with a temperature of 20°C. Auckland was on a red light for the Covid protection framework at the time, so some limitations on gatherings were in place.
