This video is about how to grow your own Wasabi Rocket.
I think everyone's heard of the leaf vegetable rocket, (also known as arugula or ruccola). But you might not have heard of wasabi rocket - this is a great variety of rocket - it grows even more quickly and it tatses of wasabi - really! It's not a "blow your taste buds out" strong taste, just a nice, mild wasabi flavlour that everyone can enjoy. It's easy to grow and it goes well with lots of japanese dishes. I use it in soups and as a dressing for sashimi and of course, it's a great leaf to add to a salad bowl. You can harvest the baby leaves after a month or six weeks or leave for another 3 - 4 weeks and harvest leaves from a mature plant. You'll see form the video that the first wasabi rocket plants I grew this year "bolted" - meaning they got too hot and started to flower (you really want the plant to spend its life growing you nice green leaves, not flowers!). My next batch did better because they did experience a mini-heatwave when they were growing. (If yours bolts because of long strong sunlight, don't worry, you can even eat the flowers!)
What you’ll need:
1 packet wasabi rocket seeds some small pots
enough potting compost to fill the pots
(larger pots for planting later) extra potting compost
water
