U.S. to Provide Over $2.3 Billion in Military Aid to Ukraine, Focus on Air Defense and NATO Path
The U.S. is planning to give over $2.3 billion in military aid to Ukraine, one of the biggest support packages since Russia's invasion in 2022. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin announced this during a meeting with Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov. This aid package, approved by the president, includes air defense interceptors, anti-tank weapons, and other crucial munitions from U.S. stockpiles. It also allows the U.S. to buy more Patriot and National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System (NASAMS) interceptors.
Last month, the U.S. administration decided to prioritize Ukraine for receiving these interceptors, even before other countries that had ordered them. This move is part of the U.S. commitment to help Ukraine, especially as the country faces another harsh winter while fighting Russia.
