Marjorie Taylor Greene held a press conference with her fellow nutjobs from Congress (Matt Gaetz, Louie Gohmert, and Paul Gosar) where she spouted crazed conspiracy theories about the treatment of the imprisoned Capitol Riot suspects. Not only did she falsely claim that these people were being treated, but she went as far as to claim that they were actually being tortured. She then went on to say that they are being persecuted for being white. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins talks about these absolutely bonkers statements from Greene.

Yesterday, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Matt Gaetz, Paul Gosar and Louie Gohmert held a little impromptu press conference where they spread conspiracy theories about what is happening to the Capitol rioters who have been imprisoned either post trial or pretrial. And here is what Marjorie Greene had to say about their treatment and, and, and for the record, there's no evidence to back up anything she is saying, but here's what she alleges. They were isolated in a separate wing of the jail where they were abused, where they are ridiculed, where they are mocked because of their political beliefs and because of January 6th and because of the color of their skin. They're being represented by public defenders that call them white supremacists, tell them they have to denounce president Trump, tell them they have to denounce their political views. Want them to watch videos and read books that basically it's critical race theory training in order for them to have this public defender represent them.
Again, no evidence at all that any of these things that she claims are happening are actually happening. It would be most likely illegal for a public defender to say, if you do not these things that I'm telling you, I'm not going to represent you. Right. That's a court appointed lawyer for these individuals and they certainly wouldn't be trying to get them to learn critical race theory in a matter of weeks before or after their trial. That, that would serve absolutely no purpose to anything that's going on. And that's the part of this that I think Marjorie Taylor Greene and all those other idiots up there forget. If you're gonna lie, you have to make it believable. Now I don't wanna sit here and give a lesson to people about how to lie, but I, I think we all understand that, you know, that's a problem with a lot of these ridiculous Republican conspiracy theories is that they're easily debunked because they're so outrageous.
You know, again, if you wanna hoodwink the American public for the love of God, you gotta get better at it. There's no evidence of abuse, you know, or torture, you know, as, as she implies there, that's simply not happening. These people have gone to court and alleged that these things are happening. When asked to provide evidence, the judges have laughed at them. And the judges have said, you're expecting a five star hotel experience when you are in jail. And so what a lot of these Capitol riots have claimed in court to actually be abuse is nothing more than standard prison treatment. It's not pleasant, but it sure as hell isn't abuse. What really gets me is that these individuals are going all in on defending these Capitol rioters.
I mean, if you wanna go out there and talk about prison reform, about sentencing reform, like I've said, I'm here for it all day long. Let's have those conversations and let's work together to make that happen. But that's not what you're doing. You are trying to paint these people as somehow the victims of a cruel and unjust criminal justice system saying that they're being discriminated against because of their race, which for the record is white.
