When our Polar Class 6 vessel Hondius was nearly finished, we took a walk around the ship for a look at life on board. In this video you can see some of our initial shots of the vessel’s interior, along with brief interviews with key members of our staff regarding their first impressions of the ship.
We began by talking to one of our captains, Remmert Koster, who praised the vessel for how well it operates in open water. He specifically noted how silently Hondius sails as well as the lack of vibration experienced on board – good news for travelers interested in experiencing the peaceful polar environment. Koster also mentioned the great views Hondius offers both inside the vessel and on its outer decks. This is yet another winning feature for polar explorers who want to see as much terrain and wildlife as possible.
Next we spoke to one of our head chefs, Ralf Barthel, who offered Hondius as a great example of Oceanwide’s leading position among polar tour operators. The facilities on board Hondius, he said, demonstrate that Oceanwide is always determined to go above and beyond when it comes to providing the very best in polar expedition cruising.
Lastly, we talked to hotel manager Michael Frauendorfer, who complimented Hondius for its enhanced luxury. He noted the vessel’s beautiful cabins and balconies, expanded menus, onboard receptionist, and general accommodations upgrades. While Oceanwide does not provide luxury cruises, we do provide comfortable adventure voyages with some luxuries included.
Even so, our mission at Oceanwide Expeditions remains the same as it has been for over 25 years: getting you off the ship and into the action as often as possible. Hondius expands our ability to do this, helping us provide you the very best of exploratory polar adventures.
