I spent almost four years completing all the requirements for the Certificate of Excellence in Handspinning offered by the Handweaver's Guild of America. While I didn't receive a certificate, I'm not here to talk about that. I'm here to have a conversation about what the COE program is, some things that could be improved, and to start a discussion about how this program serves the fiber arts community.
Remember, this is all my own opinion based on my experiences and expertise as an educator. None of my comments are directed at anyone personally. I do feel I gained a lot of spinning experience throughout the COE journey and I'm very grateful for that and the volunteers who keep HGA running.
