Nanak Singh, was an Indian poet, songwriter, and novelist of the Punjabi language. He was born on July 4, 1897 as Hans Raj and died on December 28, 1971.

He supported India's independence movement through his literary works which led the British to arrest him. Nanak singh wrote various novels during his jail time, including over 40,000 pages in longhand Gurmukhi (Punjabi) script.
